See you in Chicago: News on Sponsored Panel, Travel Money, Election

Congratulations to Lynne Milgram (Ontario Academy of Art & Design) and Jojo Abinales (U Hawaii Manoa), organizers of the PSG sponsored panel entitled  (Re)situating Extralegality in the Philippines: Prostitution, Street Vending and Education Disjunctures! Panel discussant is Gordon Mathews (Chinese University of Hong Kong) with papers from Lynne, Jojo, and graduate student Katie Whitcombe (University of Oxford). Excellent topic/issue pursued through the collaboration of junior and senior scholars from a broad geographical base once again proved to be a winning formula. Congratulations, too, to our other PSG members with accepted panels and papers!

We are happy to report that we can once again offer Travel Awards for 2015! The PSG Travel Fund is healthier than ever thanks to generous donors and the tireless work of the committee. Building on the success of last year’s award, we are able to offer modestly larger sums of up to $300 this year! Click here to view/download the 2015 announcement PSG TRAVEL AWARD 2015

Finally, we will elect new officers in 2015, including country chair. Richard Chu has stepped down as incoming chair due to other commitments. Richard informed me and the PSG Advisory Board of his decision last month. We respect Richard’s decision and for giving this matter serious thought as the work of PSG continues with everyone’s help.

On to AAS Chicago in March! Please save PSG’s target date March 27 Friday 7:30 pm (venue TBA).
